Well, you’ve kinda proved Mitch Joel’s point. By changing Scripting News to Dave Winer, you are relating more directly with Dave Winer’s “personal brand”.
What I like about Web 2.0 is that ideas like branding and marketing are not so disgusting as they used to be. Do what you love and your brand will be built as a by-product of that.
And – I work for an old media institution where people often say, ‘content is king’, but for good or ill, I don’t see that it’s true. I’m not sure it ever was.
With Web 2.0, ‘community is king’.

I disagree. I don’t think I’m relating more directly with Dave Winer’s brand by switching to his “real name” because in so doing, I refuse to accept the “brand” (ie Scripting News) that he is attempting to create for himself. All there is, is the individual and his/her content, as far as I’m concerned.
And despite all the hype around Web 2.0, there would be no community whatsoever, if the content did not come first. Content is primordial.
